Title: And She SmilesAuthor: fakeusername321Pairing: ChenzelRating: PGNotes: My first fic!
They had been working on the material for quite some time now; the story was close to both of their hearts. One day at rehearsal they found themselves alone together by the piano. Idina sat on the bench, the fingers of her right hand lightly trilling two of the keys. Kristin stood, her face gently resting in her hands as she leaned against the piano. Over the past few months the two of them had grown extremely close, as colleagues and as friends. Like Idina said, the show just wouldn’t work without the right dynamics between them. Without the right chemistry.
Idina had admitted how much she admired the blonde, pointing out her wonderful qualities and abilities. Kristin found her co-worker equally talented, though she rarely vocalized it. But she hoped she emitted the appreciation she felt for her through her warm, loving smiles.
She was doing that more often now. Smiling. And staring. Even now, as she watched the woman’s fingers lightly trace the keys of the piano, her lips had curled somewhat and she tilted her head, gazing at the woman warmly.
Snapping out of her reverie, Kristin lifted her head and walked around to the front of the piano. “I thought you said you didn’t play piano?” she asked as she plopped down next to Idina.
“Oh, I don’t.” Idina replied, giggling. “I just pretend I can.”
Kristin smiled and placed her hands on the keys, softly playing a variety of chords that sounded vaguely familiar to Idina.
“What is that, that you’re playing?” she asked.
“Oh nothing” Kristin said, as she placed her hands in her lap and gazed off into the distance.
“It’s beautiful,” Idina replied, turning to smile at her.
‘No, you are,’ Kristin thought to herself. It was true though. They both received compliments about their appearance, and most likely got equal attention from men, but Kristin knew that Idina stood out. There was such an elegance and grace to her. Even the way she spoke- so eloquently and expressively during their interviews. She did admire her. She really did. How could you not?
“I really just need to get some sleep,” Idina said, sighing.
“Don’t we all honey,” Kristin responded, resting her hand on Idina’s thigh.
“I really feel good about this though. The show I mean, just the message and the story and everything. It just works,” Idina said, nodding to herself.
Idina turned to face her. “So what do you think?”
Kristin opened her mouth to speak, but nothing came out. She was distracted. Idina was inches away from her face, and Kristin could feel the heat between them.
Without thinking, she leaned in and pressed her lips to Idina’s. She held her lips there for a moment, and then realizing what she had just done, stood up and backed away from the piano.
“Oh my God,” she said, as she turned around and ran for the door.
‘What was that! Are you out of your mind!? What were you thinking?!’ Kristin thought to herself as she rushed out of the room. She covered her face with her hand, shaking her head as she raced down the stairs.
Idina was still on the bench, with her fingers to her lips. Her eyes were wide and she swallowed.
“Kristin, wait,” she whispered faintly.
